FALL 2021 PROGRAMS
Design
Thinking
Design Thinking: Design thinking has an amalgamation of approaches, which makes it unique. Design thinking is applied as an umbrella term for multi-disciplinary, human-centered projects that involve research and rapid ideation (idea generation). In this workshop, we gain a foundation in the history of design that allows students to create their own references, collaborate, and find worthy stories to inspire them.
Noname “Book” Club: Students must be able to think and write beyond the 5 paragraph essay in order to succeed in college and beyond. We will learn to analyze and discuss novels editorials, cartoons, short films, short stories, songs, posters, and other cultural artifacts that helped to create the intoxicating American ideal and those that work to counter the smooth narrative of American exceptionalism. We are also dedicated to uplifting POC voices. We do this by highlighting texts created by authors of color, disrupting the white male canon that has dominated English classes for...ever.
Portfolio Review: We spend one hour each week critiquing our students’ portfolio pieces that are generated by project managers or by the students themselves.
